ESG for Startups: Sensei Ag Case Study

Sensei Ag, an ag tech company co-founded by Oracle founder Larry Ellison, reached out to Third Partners as they sought to incorporate sustainability as a central tenet within their mission to improve human health and wellness. Third Partners first conducted a materiality assessment and a gap analysis to determine top priority sustainability challenges and opportunities. We then created a performance improvement roadmap and socialized the plan with all levels of management, including C-suite. Once the company was aligned behind the next steps, Third Partners helped Sensei Ag launch a new comprehensive sustainability program using a phased approach with clear KPIs, milestones and points of accountability. Third Partners also provided technical advisory to several newly formed cross-functional working groups, including detailed forward-looking greenhouse gas modeling, net-zero feasibility study, and growth-related scenario planning.

The company has since implemented most of the strategies developed in the action plan and is pursuing continuous improvement goals across environmental, philanthropic, cultural, and transparency initiatives.
